SSI Stress & Rescue
The SSI Diver Stress and Rescue specialty program teaches you the skills you need to protect yourself and other divers.
You will learn how to identify stress, how to prevent accidents, and be taught practical techniques to conduct rescues and provide emergency care. With a combination of pool and open water practice sessions, you will become well prepared and confident at handling emergency and rescue situations.
Upon completion, you will earn the SSI Diver Stress and Rescue Specialty certification (must have current CPR & First Aid Certifcation). The SSI Stress & Rescue Diver is one of the highest and most respected certifications you can obtain as a recreational diver!
Students enrolling in the Diver Stress & Rescue course must:
- Complete the Student Diver Medical Questionaire and, if necessary, get their doctor's written permission prior to the first pool session.
- Have their Open Water Diver certification card or provide proof of certification.
- Complete the SSI Stress & Rescue digital learning materials, including the Final Exam online or on the SSI Application prior to your classroom / pool session.
- Provide their own mask, fins, boots and snorkel. All dive equipment must be dive quality.

Course includes digital training materials, digital certification card, use of rental scuba cylinder, and weights for the duration of the course.
Students must have current (within two years) First Aid & CPR certification or enroll in the React Right course to receive Stress & Rescue Diver certification.
Course fee does not include dive site access fee, which is paid directly to the dive operator at the lake.
Please note that all students must provide their own mask, fins, boots and snorkel. All dive equipment must be dive quality. If needed, these items may be purchased from Gulf Coast Scuba.
If needed, rental scuba equipment (Regulator, BC, Computer, and Wetsuit) may be rented from Gulf Coast Scuba.
