Enriched Air Diver
SCUBA Divers can extend their bottom time by using Enriched Air/NITROX and this is especially useful when doing repetitive dives on the same day. NITROX allows divers to spend more time underwater and less time doing surface intervals.
During the SSI NITROX course, you will learn why higher oxygen content (up to 40%) allows you to spend time underwater. At the end of the class candidate will meet the following objectives:
You will learn how to manage oxygen exposure. You will learn how to analyze the oxygen content of a Nitrox Tank and label NITROX tanks. You will learn how to set your dive computer for the correct oxygen content. You will learn how to calculate your Maximum Operating Depth (MOD).
Complete the SSI Enriched Air Nitrox digital learning materials, including the Final Exams online or on the SSI Application prior to your classroom session.
The class is conducted in the Dive Shop Classroom, as no dives are required to complete this course. Please bring your Dive Computer and its manual with you so you can learn how to change the Oxygen percentage and PO2 settings during the course.
To participate in the NITROX course candidate needs to be:
An Open Water or Junior Open Water Diver from an internationally recognized certifying agency.
12 years of age or older.
The course fee includes the SSI digital learning materials, classroom instruction, and certification fee.
