Divemaster
The Divemaster program is the first step on an exciting journey. Earn the respect of your dive buddies and become an ambassador for diving by taking the Divemaster program. All you need to get started are 40 verified/logged dives and certifications in Deep Diving, Navigation, Night & Limited Visibility or at least 5 logged/verified dives experience in each area plus Diver Stress & Rescue. You will be certified as a Dive Guide after successfully completing the Divemaster program.
When your interest is to turn your passion into a profession by guiding certified divers, teaching Ecology programs, assisting instructors or even becoming an instructor yourself, your next step is the Divemaster Upgrade with a minimum of 60 logged/verified. Upgrade to Divemaster right away or any time after by self-studying the Science of Diving materials, passing the Digital Final Exam which makes you an SSI Professional.
The SSI Divemaster course is a combination of Science of Diving and Dive Guide courses.
The SSI Divemaster program provides candidates with the knowledge and training required to guide certified divers and act as a certified assistant for some recreational scuba training programs. The duration of the Divemaster course varies based on the candidate's needs, ability, availability, and local water conditions.
This does not include the SSI Professional Fee (Currently $100.00) to be paid to SSI.
Candidate Prerequisites
- Minimum age | 18 years old.
- Have logged at least 40 open water dives to enroll in the program and log at least 60 open water dives totaling 40 hours or more (for Certification).
- Have the following SSI certifications or equivalent from a recognized training agency: Diver Stress & Rescue
- Have the following SSI certifications, an equivalent from a recognized training agency, or provide proof of experience by showing at least five (5) logged experience dives in each of the following areas:
Deep Diving | Deeper than 30 meters
Navigation
Night & Limited Visibility
Dive Guide
The Dive Guide program is the first step on an exciting journey. Learn to safely lead certified divers in various environments and conditions. By giving dive briefings, doing site evaluations, and leading dives, you will become a confident Dive Guide in no time. Begin your diving career working as a Professional Dive Guide or continue the qualifications for Divemaster.
Candidate Prerequisites
Minimum age | 15 years old.
Have logged at least 40 open water dives totaling 25 hours or more.
Have the following SSI certifications or equivalent from a recognized training agency: Diver Stress & Rescue
Have the following SSI certifications, an equivalent from a recognized training agency, or provide proof of experience by showing at least five (5) logged experience dives in each of the following areas:
Deep Diving | Deeper than 30 meters
Navigation
Night & Limited Visibility
Science of Diving
Join the SSI Science of Diving specialty and you will develop a complete understanding of the underwater world and its effects on the human body. This specialty is required training for most SSI Professional programs, as well as some Extended Range programs, and is an essential way to expand your dive knowledge. Upon completion, you will earn the SSI Science of Diving specialty certification.
